Hope for Detainees

A memo issued by ICE Assistant Director John Morton on August 20, 2010 offers hopes to thousands of immigrants with applications pending before USCIS. Citing as his objective the promotion of "...the efficient use of government resources, Mr. Morton's new policies include expedited adjudication of applications and petitions for both detained and non-detained aliens, and dismissal without prejudice of certain removal cases "where no serious or adverse factors exist."
